UPDATE 5: ‘Please evacuate to safe areas’

Japanese chief cabinet secretary Yoshihide Suga gave a brief press conference on the current situation.

He said:

  • The Government, right after the earthquake hit, has established a taskforce and released tsunami information
  • We have issued warnings and we have the director-generals of the agencies involved to carry out necessary measures
  • We will continue to gather information about any damage so that we can safely take action
  • I would like to call upon the people, since tsunami warnings and alerts have been issued, if you are living along these areas, please evacuate to safety
UPDATE 4: Reported Water Cooling Failure at Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant.  Cooling system reported back online
UPDATE 3: A Second and Third Tsunami is expected to make landfall. Will be larger than the 1st Tsunami

BREAKING: A 7.3 magnitude earthquake centered 69 kilometers (43 miles) from Iwaku, Fukushima Prefecture shook Japan, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The earthquake was reportedly felt in Tokyo.
