Why is tale about #Shenzhen's good #Samaritan law – which came into effect 2.5 years ago – so popular today? https://t.co/lmHDaezyv3

Fortunately for the woman, a group of passersby arrived for a closer look at what was happening. A deliveryman named Lu Jinyue told reporters that at first he thought that it was a couple having an argument.
Once he got closer though, he saw that the man was holding a weapon and the woman was covered in blood and pleading for someone to save her life. He knew that if he didn’t act quickly, the woman would die.
Lu grabbed a bamboo pole from another onlooker and started trying to whack the weapon out of the man’s hand. In response, the man began to chase Lu. At that moment, another Good Samaritan in a car drove up from behind and hit the attacker, knocking him to the ground.
Immediately, a crowd of pedestrians rushed to subdue the man. When police arrived they found the injured attacker surrounded by locals and his victim covered in blood lying on the sidewalk. They immediately called for an ambulance and the two were rushed to the hospital.
The man remains in police custody while the woman is recuperating at her own home, the report concludes.
